The Author who Didn't Exist

It's interesting that The Hardy Boys were all ghostwritten by a syndicate, as Franklin W. Dixon is a great name, and I always imagined a big bloke with a moustache writing them. This cover stood out a mile on the bookshelves c1982.

  1. Great cover! I felt the same about Carolyn Keene and Nancy Drew. Though as the title of this post suggests, there might be something uncanny in the idea of writing syndicates.

  2. With the Nancy Drew/Hardy Boy cross-over books, the thought of Franklin & Carolyn writing them together but actually not existing puts the mind into a right old muddle :)
