Current Affairs Brutality

Inspired by the World In Action titles, I'm posting a couple of other favourite news programmes. Readers who lived in the London area in the 1980s may recall 'The London Programme':

Surely Weekend World need no introduction, but the theme (Mountain's 'Nantucket Sleighride') further illustrates LWT programmers' belief that current affairs meant ROCK!

  1. Oh wow, I'd forgotten the World in Action theme. Can we have The Money Prog next?

These tunes, despite rocking, have melancholy associations for me, cos they invariably meant BEDTIME. ITV's News at Ten in particular was a bastard for alerting my mum to the fact that I was still up.

  2. I was always fascinated by the old-skool photo-fit pictures of villains on Shaw Taylor's 'Police 5', scheduled just before Weekend World.

    Keep 'em peeled.
