In Defence of the Comb Over

Would this extraordinary image be even better if Joseph Cooper had a grade 1 all over? No!

  1. He's working a good look. I like his familiar drinking on the keyboard.
Are those dead leaves on his arm & shoulder?

  2. They are indeed. It might be a ref to the dead keyboard in front of him; he used to do a round on Face the Music with it. It had no internal gubbins and the panel members would have to work out what tune he was playing by the sound of his fingers bashing away at the dead keys. Quite hauntological, in fact!

Actually, I prefer to think that they had some bizarre concept going on, or just thought "dead leaves would look good". I wish this sort of thing really did go on in suburban gardens.

  3. Oddly, from a distance, Joseph bears a passing resemblance to JG Ballard!

  4. So, are you saying that the LP is a recording of Mr. Cooper pounding away on a broken keyboard? Because that would be incredible!

  5. golem13> Bloody 'ell, he does! JGB's older brother, maybe.

U-W> Oh God, I wish it was! Sadly, it's just Mr Cooper playing classical tunes on a proper piano. What's the bleedin' point, eh?
