London Moods

Ken Russell made 'London Moods' for his mentor Huw Weldon's programme 'Monitor' in 1961. I was going to post a short clip, but didn't know where to cut it so here's the whole thing, lines, crackles and all.

Music is by Elgar and Vaughan Williams, with a contemporary musical interlude by Christopher Whelen.

Watching this just confirms what a great cinematic talent Ken Russell was when he didn't have to deal with things like scripts, actors and set design: the sequence in the gym, for example, is superbly edited and visually arresting.
