Office Art

Having recently outed myself as someone working for a local authority, I am now prepared to share that the inner areas of council offices have children’s paintings all over in order to engender a ‘doing it for the kids’ attitude and to brighten up our grey and beige weekday world.

I don’t know who painted this, or when, or how long it has hung on the wall outside my office. I don’t know what it represents, or what the artist wanted to say.

What I do know is that it has a strange, compelling energy and, when I am finally escorted from the building, I will be taking it with me, by force if necessary.

  1. I too work for a local authority *sigh* and we have some cracking 'art' on the walls here in Reading. I'll try and sneak a photo or two.

  2. It's probably got more to do with the way the photo's been shot, but it reminds me a little of some of the images within Brian Eno's '77 Million Paintings'.
