We are making a new world
Nash served as a war artist in both WW1 & WW2, and was deeply appalled by what he saw. 'We Are Making A New World' (1918) is strangely, tragically beautiful, the title savagely sarcastic.

It's astounding that after bearing witness to the utter carnage of the first war, and conveying this in his work, poor Nash had to see it all happen again.
