The 1981 version also nicely updates the social and political themes in Wyndham's novel to reflect the class polarisation of the early years of Thatcherism, a nuance that was needless to say lost in the more recent version.
The whole series is available on DVD but the BBC has also released it free-of-charge on its YouTube channel. Click the image below to watch it or go to http://bit.ly/bbctriffids

brilliant series, remember it well
ReplyDeleteThanks for the YouTube tip @Bat020. Watched it all again last night. Particularly liked the strictly RADA "posh tottie" Emma Relph and the Ligetti 'n' lazers titles.
