A while ago I lent a copy of this to a friend of mine who then let his teenage son watch it. To say his son was quite disturbed by it was an understatement. If I remember right I think it bothered me when it was 1st shown.
I watched this as a teenager, disturbed doesn't really cover it. Along with Survivors, Children of the Stones, Tubeway Army, etc., it entirely changed my view of the south east London suburb I grew up in. I was busy checking which areas would make for the best places to defend/hole up in.
I hadn't watched Threads for 25 or so years until a friend lent it to me, I found myself as terrified by it as ever. Bleak and still utterly convincing.
