AI NO DERRIDA

Thursday, 3 February 2011

"David, turn yourself in, this is horrible."

I've been listening to Boards Of Canada's Geogaddi an awful lot lately. It's an album which always sends my thoughts scurrying off in various directions. Thanks largely to the album's tenth track '1969' (detailed analysis here) one train of thought carries me all the way to Waco, Texas. In the above video clip, one man-with-a-messiah-complex-who-will-soon-die discusses another man-with-a-messiah-complex-who-will-soon-die. Nothing really happens, but the subliminal hum of imminent tragedy is hard to ignore.

  3. That was a really eerie and f'd occurrence in America. I ended up going through a few other videos off in the side bar, and it really brought back some chilling memories.

  4. ...Also, if you are by any chance a Bill Callahan/Smog fan he's releasing an album in April called 'Apocalypse' and the art work on this promo poster the dates refer to the events in Waco, Oklahoma City and 9/11. http://cdn.pitchfork.com/media/callahanposter.jpg
