From Dangerous Minds today
In Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore, British artist Mark Leckey edits found video footage of people dancing to deep grooves from the 1970s, 80s and 90s and the result is a pop culture artifact that is archetypal, alchemical, and hypnotic.
The soundtrack to the video is an especially haunting mix of grabbed snippets of soul, afro chants, loops of heavy breathing and TV show music and old school techno samples that's been passed though a wonky memory filter.

Northern Soul groovers
ReplyDeleteI read something about this only the other day...
ReplyDeleteNice to see it.
Really fascinating. I would be great if the soundtrack were released...
Here is an audio file of the soundtrack, taken from one of Leckey's lectures.
